About
us
The diamond Consortium is led by Professor Jane Gunn from
the Department of General Practice, The University of Melbourne. The
Consortium formed in 2004 with a vision towards a primary care system
that promotes emotional well-being and provides Australians experiencing
depression with accessible, responsive and effective management options
to assist recovery and maintain well-being. The Consortium brings together
a multidisciplinary team with not only expertise in complex primary
care and mental health research and evaluation across the lifecycle,
but also clinical expertise and links to other service providers to
build mental health research and service capacity in Victoria.
The role of the Consortium is to facilitate the open exchange of information
and sharing of resources. The Consortium is developing and implementing
a coherent and integrated research plan that will build upon the work
of the diamond longitudinal study. The Consortium is also committed
to nurturing the careers of young researchers and research students
in the area of mental health research in the primary care setting. Above
all the Consortium will promote a community of researchers with a strong
element of mentorship.
The diamond Consortium is funded by the beyondblue
Victorian Centre of Excellence in Depression and Related Disorders.
